Preschool Room
We offer care for children from the age of 18months to 6 years. We have a bigger room downstairs which is our Pre-school room and can cater for 33 pre-schoolers. Both rooms offer a play cased curriculum supported by the national framework Aistear and the national guidelines Siolta. We operate our service part- time this year and are open from 8am-1.30pm.

Curriculum Statement
Here at ABC Childsplay we strive in providing a Quality child-centred, play based environment guided by Children’s emerging interests, where children can actively develop and pursue their learning with the guidance of highly trained, caring and driven staff to become confident and competent learners. We acknowledge all areas of children’s development – cognitive, creative, emotional, linguistic, moral, physical, social and spiritual. We aim to do this by allowing each child the opportunity to reach their full potential by guiding their learning through play and by building strong relationships with the children enabling them to learn in a safe environment.
Our Environment

At ABC Childsplay we believe in fostering children’s creativity through an environment that provokes and encourages curiosity. Our environment is carefully designed to promote free play which allows the children to develop independence, conflict resolution skills, turn taking skills and leadership skills.

Both our outdoor and indoor environments are designed to encourage the children’s learning through natural and open ended materials such as water and sand areas, log tables, grass area, wooden blocks, art materials, manipulative toys, puzzles and much more all of which encourage problem solving skills.

We recognise how diverse our community is and aim to promote cultural awareness throughout our service.
Our Staff
All staff at ABC Childsplay are qualified to a minimum level 5 in Early Years Care and Education and engage in continuous professional development in relation to Aistear and Siolta and the National Quality Framework. We aim to achieve this by building strong relationships between parents and carers.

Our Curriculum
ABC Childsplay promotes a play-based curriculum based on broad concepts such as all about me, transport, nature and on children’s emerging interests.

Based on Aistear’s learning goals
We link our themes to Aistear’s learning goals, through regular observations, open-ended questions emerging children’s interests and ideas, and use this knowledge to plan ways of supporting and extending their learning and development. Activities are designed towards individual children and the group.

Helping extend play, ideals, skills and concepts
Our medium-term plans set out the themes for each month based on Aistear learning goals and observations of children. Our staff build on ideas and plan activities based on the interests and needs of the children.
Our daily routines include spontaneous and panned activities which plays an important part of our curriculum to help extend play, ideas, skills and concepts through a combination of child and adult led activities we aim to develop the various and individual dispositions of the children.
This helps the children to become happy and confident, curious and creative, compassionate and caring, respectful and respected, independent, tolerant and patient.

Helping the children developing everyday life skills
We believe that by offering a mix of free play and structured play we are helping the children to develop and build on an array of skills in their everyday lives.
